    McChord's Fittest
JOINT BASE LEWIS-MCCHORD, Wash — Competitors across Team McChord assembled at the McChord Track at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Sept. 3, 2026, to face a series of challenges that would ultimately name one group: “McChord’s Fittest.”

The competition included five teams of five individuals, taking on five unique events. The series began with an ammo can sprint, a relay race designed to test speed with increased resistance. Each event targeted different aspects of fitness, such as strength, endurance, speed and agility. Most importantly, however, the entire challenge was a testament to teamwork. No win was possible without help and determination between peers.

Through rigorous exercises, participants were pushed to their physical limits, and the competition forced the athletes to hold their own but also support their teammates through to the finish.

The original challenge was derived from the Julius A. Kolb Airman Leadership School Commandant’s Crucible, a competition to test non-commissioned officers in training. McChord’s Fittest, a new challenge, is designed to be open to the entire Team McChord community.
