U.S. Naval Ship Repair Facility Japan RMC (SRF-JRMC)

YOKOSUKA, Japan - U.S. Naval Ship Repair Facility and Japan Regional Maintenance Center (SRF-JRMC) officially completed a key maintenance period for the Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Preble (DDG 88), delivering the warship on schedule at Commander Fleet Activities Yokosuka (CFAY), Aug. 24.

The complex maintenance spanned several months and included an approximately $33 million maintenance and modernization package. The scheduled overhaul ensured the forward-deployed destroyer received critical depot-level repairs and system enhancements necessary for maximizing operational readiness.

Project leaders credited close coordination between military and civilian maintenance teams as essential to completing the project on-time.

"Bravo Zulu to the combined SRF, alteration installation team, and ship's force team for their outstanding performance in completing this availability successfully," said Brock Deitch, the SRF-JRMC waterfront operations officer, praising the workforce's dedication to achieving every milestone.

Preble returns to full mission readiness in support of U.S. 7th Fleet operations. The on-time delivery reinforces the facility’s vital role to keep forward-deployed naval forces ready to fight and win in the Indo-Pacific region.

For over 75 years, SRF-JRMC has been the linchpin of U.S. naval operations in the region by providing intermediate and depot level repair for the ships of the U.S. Navy and the U.S. 7th Fleet.

U.S. 7th Fleet, the Navy’s largest forward-deployed numbered fleet, routinely interacts and operates with allies and partners in preserving a free and open Indo-Pacific.
