The Department of War (DoW) Office of Military Community Advocacy recognized Naval Support Activity South Potomac’s Kristiana Poole with an Award of Recognition on 26 August 2026 at the Fleet and Family Support Center for her outstanding service as a Victim Advocate and Educator. Her work in preventing child abuse, neglect, and domestic abuse has made a significant and lasting impact across the military community. As one of the top five Family Advocacy Program providers across the services, Poole’s commitment reflects an unwavering dedication to strengthening families, supporting service members, and upholding the mission of prevention.
During the ceremony, NSASP Commanding Officer Capt. John Nadder highlighted the importance of acknowledging the critical, essential work done within the Family Advocacy Program. He noted that while much of the team’s impact is not publicly visible, it remains vital to the health and resilience of the installation. He shared that it is meaningful to pause and thank the NSASP personnel “in the front rows” of keeping Sailors and families safe. He added that the recognition is well‑deserved because “a lot of what you do isn’t supposed to be broadcasted… but the value of your work is undeniable.”
Poole reflected on her passion for advocacy, sharing heartfelt words about her calling to serve families. “It’s always been my passion to work with families and it’s always been in my heart to be a victim advocate, so prevention is huge for me because if we can do things to prevent abuse and to create happy and healthy families, then we are helping to break the chain and cycles of abuse.”
