Yokosuka, Japan (Sept. 3, 2026) – Yeoman 2nd Class Jiha Barker was awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal by NAVSUP FLC Yokosuka (FLCY) Executive Officer Cmdr. Brad Sturgis, marking the completion of a successful two-year, four-month tour of duty. Barker, a native of Cincinnati, OH, began her assignment at the Yokosuka Post Office as a postal clerk in May 2024 before cross-rating to yeoman as a Training and Administration of the Reserve (TAR) Sailor in May 2026. Reflecting on her time at the command, Barker expressed deep gratitude to leadership and shipmates. “I’m extremely grateful for the experiences, opportunities, and relationships I have gained during my time here. My tour has helped me grow both personally and professionally. I’m thankful for all the support and guidance along the way, and I’ll always be proud to have been a part of the FLCY team.”
