LIBYA -- The commander of U.S. Special Operations Command Africa recently met with senior Libyan military leaders as part of continued U.S. efforts to strengthen military cooperation and advance shared regional security objectives.
The discussions focused on strengthening Libyan-led military coordination and identifying opportunities for expanded cooperation. During the meetings, SOCAFRICA Commander U.S. Air Force Maj. Gen. Claude Tudor discussed collaborative approaches to shared security challenges and emphasized the connection between enduring security, regional stability and economic opportunity.
“We support a more unified and stable Libya, with stronger institutions and greater economic opportunities for its people and the region,” said Tudor. “Working together through efforts like Flintlock 2027, we are building readiness, strengthening military capabilities and helping lay the groundwork for long-term shared security and prosperity.”
These visits reflect the strong military partnership and security cooperation between SOCAFRICA and military leadership across Libya. Looking ahead, Libya's role as a host for Flintlock 27 represents a direct continuation of this progress following Flintlock 26.
“We are seeing the steady, concrete evolution of a unified U.S.-Libya security partnership in action,” said U.S. Navy Capt. Dustin DiNola, senior defense official and defense attaché. “Building directly on the success of Flintlock 26, Libya's agreement to host Flintlock 27 represents a massive step forward in our expanding cooperation with military leadership across both eastern and western Libya.”
Flintlock is U.S. Africa Command's premier special operations forces exercise. The exercise strengthens U.S., allied and partner readiness in counterterrorism, cross-border integration and multi-domain operations.
