“The camaraderie is my favorite part of the Best Warrior Competition, you start as complete strangers, and two days later you're cracking jokes and building friendships with people from all over the country,” says U.S. Army Spc. Dylan Blue, a combat medic with the 141st Brigade Support Battalion, Oregon Army National Guard, competing in the Region VI Best Warrior Competition.
Blue joined the National Guard two years ago, seeking something greater than himself after deciding college was not the path he wanted to pursue. Since earning his combat medic certification, he has gained valuable mentors, career opportunities, and friendships that span the nation. In his civilian career, Blue serves as an emergency medical technician and recently submitted a warrant officer packet to pursue Army aviation.
He views the Best Warrior Competition as an opportunity to challenge himself, develop new skills, and learn from Soldiers across the region. His dedication to personal courage reflects his willingness to embrace challenges, pursue growth, and continuously strive to become a better Soldier, leader, and medical professional.
