TWENTYNINE PALMS, Calif. — Navy Medicine Readiness and Training Command Twentynine Palms recognized Alex S. Escobal as its Senior Civilian of the 3rd Quarter of 2026, highlighting his contributions to data-driven decision-making and the command’s mission of supporting high-quality patient care and operational readiness.
Escobal, a Los Angeles native who was born in Zambales, Philippines, serves as a data analyst at NMRTC Twentynine Palms. In his role, he conducts research and mines data from multiple workload reporting systems to help command leaders understand trends, evaluate performance and make informed decisions.
His work involves compiling, organizing and analyzing current and historical workload data from across the medical treatment facility. The information helps support planning efforts and the completion of the command’s strategic goals and objectives.
For Escobal, however, the numbers ultimately represent something much more tangible — the care provided to service members, families and other beneficiaries.
The most rewarding part of his job, he said, is “seeing our patients and beneficiaries provided the highest quality care by our staff.”
Escobal’s connection to Navy Medicine extends well beyond his civilian career. A retired Navy hospital corpsman, he continued serving within Navy Medicine after hanging up his uniform.
“I never left Navy Medicine,” Escobal said. “I am a retired Navy hospital corpsman and, God willing, will continue in my own little way to serve our troops and their families.”
During his military career, Escobal served in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan. His experience as a hospital corpsman continues to shape his perspective as a civil servant and his commitment to supporting the people behind the mission.
Being selected as Senior Civilian of the Quarter, Escobal said, represents not only his individual efforts but also the support he has received throughout his career.
“It’s an honor and incredibly meaningful to be acknowledged in this way,” Escobal said. “I am sincerely grateful to everyone who has guided me along the journey. This recognition not only reflects my efforts, but also the collaboration and encouragement of so many others. It drives and inspires me to continue striving for excellence and making a positive impact.”
Outside of work, Escobal enjoys golf — although he is quick to temper expectations about his abilities on the course.
“I pretend to be a golfer,” Escobal joked. “I’m better at driving the golf carts!”
His advice to others is less about a particular profession and more about how people approach their work and those around them.
“It really does not matter what field you’re in,” Escobal said. “Do your best to do the right thing, respect everyone and demonstrate that you care by being considerate, supportive, attentive and compassionate.”
Through both his military and civilian service, Escobal has remained connected to the Navy Medicine mission, now using data and analysis to help leaders make informed decisions and support the care delivered across the command.
