PAE Strategic Systems Programs Hosts Talent Acquisition and Hiring Event at Command Headquarters

Portfolio Acquisition Executive (PAE) Strategic Systems Programs (SSP) held an in-person talent acquisition and hiring event at command headquarters in Washington, D.C. on Aug. 14, 2026.
The event, organized by Mr. Norman England, a senior branch engineer at SSP, was a new initiative to strengthen the workforce and further support the command’s strategic deterrence mission. England, who had received more than 100 resumes from PAE SSP-USAJobs flyers, saw this as an opportunity to expand the command reach across qualified candidates and add efficiency to the time-consuming hiring process. The event provided valuable face-to-face interaction with prospective candidates.
“I received over 150 resumes within the past six months from two different flyers on USA jobs,” he said. “I suggested that I could set up a supervisor hiring panel and bring in as many as 100 candidates into SSP’s Management Center as a hiring event to help fill the command’s needs for new hires.”
A total of 96 prospective candidates arrived across three sessions – two in the morning and one in the afternoon – and were hosted at PAE SSP’s Management Center, which featured booths for several technical and non-technical branches. As the candidates entered the room, they had the opportunity to browse and learn more about how each branch within PAE SSP contributes to the U.S. Navy’s strategic deterrence mission.
“Hiring new employees is a very time-consuming task,” England said. “Many supervisors are already juggling many responsibilities, and if I can streamline that for them to make their jobs easier, I am open to it. Just looking at the metrics provided by SPHR, there are 87 supervisors looking to fill over 245 positions in 35 technical branches at SSP HQ alone.”
England said the hiring event was advertised online, and he used previously submitted resumes from prior hiring events to raise awareness of the new hiring opportunities. The hiring event was a major success and proved to be highly effective in connecting qualified candidates with command branch managers. England, who has solicited feedback from branch managers and prospective candidates, is looking forward to organizing similar events in the future to meet PAE SSP hiring needs and fill the billets that will maintain the command’s world-class workforce status.
“I have received a lot of emails and remarks in the hallways from supervisors and branch heads thanking me for supporting this as they found a lot of really good potential hires,” he said. “So far, things seem to be looking very encouraging. Hopefully, we can see the fruits of our labor at future new hire orientations.”
