Senior Airman Kaitlynn Nash has served as a medical logistics technician with the 908th Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron since joining the unit in August 2022.
Growing up as the youngest in a family she affectionately describes as “nonstop achievers,” Nash enlisted in the Air Force Reserve at just 17 years old to challenge herself and build a foundation of professional experience. Her mother previously served in the Navy, and her father suggested the Reserve as a great way to gain experience and dip her feet in before committing to active duty, though Nash makes it clear the choice was entirely her own.
"Do it because you want to do it," Nash said. "Don't do it because someone else is telling you to do it."
As a medical logistics technician, Nash ensures aeromedical evacuation teams have the exact medications, gear, and supplies necessary to care for patients thousands of feet in the air. Her daily tasks include post-flight inventory, inspecting and properly disposing of expired medical supplies, tracking equipment calibrations, and keeping critical kits mission-ready.
Participating in recent deployment exercises brought her vital role into clear focus.
“I recently went on a deployment exercise, and that was an experience... learning my big 'why' and the mission, and definitely seeing how my role is very important in a deployed setting,” Nash said.
For Nash, the people are what make the 908th AES so special, and she credits the unit's strong sense of camaraderie for driving everyone to perform at their best.
“Here in AES, it's a different kind of morale; it's a different kind of camaraderie,” Nash said. “Everyone comes in and kind of puts their best foot forward, and it's hard not to do the same. It's a great environment to be in, and just be around other like-minded people who just want to get the mission done and have a little fun while doing it.”
That positive attitude and work ethic contributed directly to her selection as the 908th Flying Training Wing’s Airman of the Quarter for the 1st Quarter of 2026.
“I do believe that I come in eager and ready to do my job and do it well,” Nash said. “I feel like it's hard to stand out in a unit where everybody's amazing. So for my leadership and for my other wingmen to see or to feel like I'm doing a little bit more than an ordinary Airman... I feel like I'm actually doing something right.”
Outside of uniform, Nash is a full-time college senior pursuing a bachelor’s degree in psychology with an emphasis in sports psychology. A self-described "introverted extrovert," she balances her academic ambition and military service while enjoying sports, reading, baking, working with kids, and spending time with loved ones.
Her personal motto centers on continuous growth and quiet service to others.
“My main goal is to just continue to help others in the best way I know how, just be a blessing to anybody I come across,” Nash said. “Be the best psychologist I can be. Be the best friend. Be the best daughter. Best sister. Best partner, and just continue to grow. Continue to be a learner. Never stop learning.”
Her advice to prospective recruits remains straightforward: enlist for your own reasons and give it your full effort.
“You put a different level of effort into this job because it does take a lot of effort to put this uniform on,” Nash said. “If it's something you genuinely want to do, it would take a lot less out of you.”
