AUGUSTA, Ga. – Each year, Augusta becomes a gathering point for military leaders, industry professionals, academics and cybersecurity specialists at TechNet Augusta. Hosted by AFCEA International with support from the U.S. Army Cyber Center of Excellence and industry partners, TechNet Augusta is a professional conference for discussing cybersecurity, communications, networking, electronic warfare and the technologies that enable military warfighting.
Retired U.S. Army Lt. Gen. Bruce Crawford, now the AFCEA International 12th president, opened with, “Over the years, this event has evolved far beyond just a conference. It’s evolved to the point where I consider it to be one of the nation’s premier generating forums – so much bigger than a conference.”
At its core, TechNet Augusta centers its attention on solving operational challenges. The conference provides a forum where military and government leaders can communicate directly with industry and academic professionals about the challenges facing the Army and the broader Department of War. Discussions center on how emerging technologies can improve military capabilities while addressing the increasingly complex demands of modern warfare.
The 2026 theme “C2/Counter-C2 in Support of Army and Joint Warfighting,” highlights command and control and counter-command and control objectives and capabilities. This also means finding ways to accelerate the delivery of innovative, interoperable systems essential to effective decision dominance and the success of missions in joint operational environments.
“This year, in partnership with AFC (U.S. Army Futures Command), Joe Welch and I are really excited that we structured the conversation in a way that, if you’re a part of our Army today, you hear talk about portfolio acquisition executives and there are several of them,” says U.S. Army Maj. Gen. Ryan M. Janovic, commanding general of U.S. Army Cyber Center of Excellence and Fort Gordon, “and the one we’re most interested in is the C2/Counter-C2, command and control and counter-command and control portfolio. And everything we’ve put together this week is designed to say, that is everything EW, everything cyber, everything intel, that is everything, in one place.”
This event will strengthen partnerships between the military and private sectors to advance command and control and counter-command and control capabilities, providing warfighters with greater effectiveness within an ever-growing technological battlefield.
Attendees took part in keynote addresses, panel discussions, technical sessions, training opportunities and live demonstrations. The 2026 agenda included topics such as cybersecurity, unified networks, cyber warfare, artificial intelligence, electronic warfare, and Army network transformation.
Featuring speakers include retired Lt. Gen. Bruce Crawford, president and CEO of AFCEA International, Lt. Gen. Paul T. Stanton, director of the Defense Information System Agency (DISA) and Commander of the Department of Defense Cyber Defense Command, Lt. Gen. Christopher L. Eubank, commanding general of U.S. Army Cyber Command, Maj. Gen. Ryan M. Janovic, commanding general of U.S. Army Cyber Center of Excellence and Fort Gordon, the Honorable Garnett Johnson, Mayor of Augusta, Georgia, Mr. Russell Keen, president of Augusta University, and more. This year, TechNet had 5,671 full conference attendees.
TechNet has ended for 2026, but the connections and innovations shared throughout the event will continue to shape the future of Army communications and technology. With another annual event completed, Soldiers, industry partners and mission leaders leave better connected and prepared to meet challenges ahead. Looking ahead, TechNet is poised to expand its influence as a hub for innovation, with next year expected to showcase broader participation and deeper collaboration across the community.
