For Senior Airman Jhayla Blake, a 927th Force Support Squadron Career Development technician, joining the United States Air Force was more than just starting a new job - it was an opportunity for change. Seeking direction and personal growth, Blake made the decision to enlist in hopes of building a better future while serving something greater than herself.

Throughout her career, Blake discovered opportunities that helped shape both her career and her sense of purpose. One of the most impactful experiences has been her participation in Continuous Process Improvement (CPI) and Green Belt training.

CPI training focuses on improving processes, eliminating inefficiencies, and finding better ways to accomplish the mission. The training teaches Airmen problem-solving techniques such as process mapping, root cause analysis, and data-driven decision making. For Blake, the experience became more than just learning new professional skills.

“CPI training helped me realize that every Airman has the ability to make a difference,” Blake said. “It gave me the tools and the confidence to speak up and find ways to improve the processes around me.”

Through Green Belt training, Blake developed a deeper understanding of how small improvements can have a significant impact on mission effectiveness. The training also helped her recognize that innovation and efficiency play an important role in supporting the Air Force mission.

More importantly, CPI gave Blake a voice. What once began as a search for personal change has now evolved into a clear sense of direction within her career. By applying the skills learned through CPI, she has gained confidence in identifying problems and contributing solutions within her work center. Blake even earned Airman of the Month as well as Airman of the Quarter for her efforts.

For Blake, the training reinforced the idea that every Airman can influence positive change.

“Joining the Air Force gave me the opportunity to grow in ways I never expected,” Blake said. “Through CPI and Green Belt training, I’ve found purpose in helping improve the way we do things and supporting the mission.”

As Blake continues to develop professionally, the lessons learned through CPI will remain an important part of her journey. What began as a desire for change has now become a foundation for continued growth, leadership, and contribution to the Air Force mission. Blake is hopeful for her Air Force career, continuing her education in hopes of commissioning in the future.
