DETROIT ARSENAL, Mich. — Army Contracting Command-Detroit Arsenal (ACC-DTA) leaders and acquisition professionals recently joined industry partners, academia, and government experts at the 18th Annual Ground Vehicle Systems Engineering & Technology Symposium (GVSETS).
Hosted by the NDIA Michigan Chapter at the Vibe Credit Union Showplace from August 11-13, 2026, the three-day symposium focused on advancing the technologies that support the United States military’s future ground maneuver concepts, systems, and formations.
The annual event provides a critical networking platform for the ground systems community to share technical research, discuss modernization needs, and identify capability gaps. As global threats grow increasingly aggressive and complex, ACC-DTA remains dedicated to ensuring Warfighters have the right tools and solutions for current and future conflicts.
Leadership Prioritizes Agile Contracting Maj. Gen. Doug Lowrey, commanding general of Army Contracting Command, alongside local Detroit Arsenal leadership, maintained a highly visible presence throughout the symposium. The command team attended several main session keynotes and panel sessions and participated in strategic one-on-one sessions with industry representatives.
Discussions heavily emphasized how ACC is actively enhancing communication with the commercial sector. Leadership highlighted ongoing efforts to provide agile contracting tools, meet the Army's urgent modernization initiatives, and ensure ACC's acquisition support aligns directly with the Army’s Program Acquisition Executive (PAE) structure.
By connecting with hundreds of industry partners at GVSETS, ACC-DTA fostered collaboration and enhanced transparency. These efforts reinforced the command's commitment to aligning commercial capabilities with military priorities and strengthening the national defense industrial base.
Dive into FAST TRACK: Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Source Selection Another highlight of ACC-DTA's presence was the presentation by Charlie Gram, director of contracts for intel, services, and sustainment support, and Tom Phillips, pricing division chief. The two leaders shared valuable insights into how ACC-DTA is pioneering efficiencies in proposal evaluation.
During the symposium, they detailed the implementation of the U.S. ARMY FAST TRACK Source Selection Artificial Intelligence Evaluation Tool. FAST TRACK is an internally developed, government-owned AI analytical platform designed to significantly accelerate the technical evaluation phase of the Source Selection Evaluation Board (SSEB) process.
Developed collaboratively by Army contracting professionals and software engineers, the tool acts as a force multiplier for human evaluators. It systematically maps, organizes, and cross-references complex technical proposals against specific solicitation requirements.
Pilot data indicates that FAST TRACK implementation results in an average 73% reduction in technical evaluation timelines, significantly accelerating a critical phase of the acquisition lifecycle.
Through strategic engagement and the implementation of advanced tools like FAST TRACK, ACC-DTA demonstrated at GVSETS 2026 that it is not just adapting to the future of contracting but actively defining it.
