FORT BRAGG, N.C. — Fort Bragg community members connected with resources supporting their mental, emotional and physical well-being during the Employee Assistance Program Wellness Resource Fair Aug. 14 at the Soldier Support Center.
The fair brought Fort Bragg organizations and community partners together in one location, giving Department of the Army civilians, retirees, active-duty Soldiers and their Family members an opportunity to learn about available health services on and off the installation.
Throughout the four-hour event, attendees had opportunities to explore wellness resources, participate in interactive demonstrations and prize giveaways, and learn about available services designed to support different aspects of their quality of life.
Participating organizations included Womack Army Medical Center, Behavioral Health, the Armed Forces Wellness Center, the Suicide Prevention Program, Army Community Service, Sexual Harassment/Assault Response and Prevention, the Army Substance Abuse Program, the Bragg Training and Education Center, the Holistic Health and Fitness Academy, the American Red Cross, KEYS 365 and the R2 Performance Center.
“Bringing multiple Fort Bragg organizations and community partners together in one location allows attendees to easily access a wide range of support and information in a single, convenient setting,” Angela Williams, Fort Bragg Employee Assistance Program Coordinator, said.
That variety was intentional. Rather than focusing on a single aspect of health, the fair emphasized the connection held between different areas of wellness and the role each can play in an individual’s life.
“Because wellness is interconnected, addressing mental, emotional, physical and financial health together provides a more balanced foundation that supports long-term resilience,” Williams said.
For event organizers, the value of the fair was not simply bringing people through the doors but helping these community members make meaningful connections with resources they can continue to use year-round. Organizers also encouraged community members who may not currently feel they need assistance to become familiar with the available resources, just in case. Knowing where to turn before a challenge arises can help individuals remain proactive about their well-being.
“I encourage anyone who thinks they’re ‘fine’ or feels hesitant to attend these type of resource fairs because exploring services in a low-pressure setting can help them stay informed and better prepared for future challenges,” Williams said.
Although this fair has concluded, EAP services remain available throughout the year.
“The EAP provides year-round confidential counseling, referrals and training to support workplace wellness, ensuring individuals can continue accessing assistance whenever they need it,” Williams said.
By bringing resources together and introducing community members to the plethora of services available across Fort Bragg, the Wellness Resource Fair served as both an opportunity to address current wellness needs and to remind individuals that support remains available long after the event ends.
