KOROR, Republic of Palau – Before tactical training began for Exercise Tenacious Archer 26, U.S. service members prioritized giving back to the host nation, participating in a dedicated Community Day on July 24 to underscore the enduring bond between the United States and the Republic of Palau.
Coordinated by the U.S. Embassy, the outreach events brought together the Red Cross and U.S. military personnel to interact directly with local residents, share in cultural exchanges, and distribute back-to-school supplies to students. Because the welfare of the community and its land is paramount, U.S. Army Pacific (USARPAC) planners also worked closely with the Embassy and the Government of Palau to ensure all exercise activities strictly adhere to environmental protection standards, safeguarding Palau's pristine natural resources.
“The true foundation of our presence here relies on the strength of our person-to-person relationships and the mutual trust we build with our host nation,” said Col. Mary Durham, commander of the United States Army Reserve’s 303d Maneuver Enhancement Brigade. “By working hand-in-hand with local leaders to protect this beautiful environment and supporting families with back-to-school supplies, we are demonstrating that the health, welfare, and future of the Palauan people remain our highest priorities.”
These community interactions reflect a broader alliance rooted in mutual respect and shared values. Through both community outreach and the environmentally conscious execution of military training, USARPAC and the joint U.S. force continue to build lasting trust and demonstrate a steadfast commitment to the region.
