Fort Knox, Ky. — Fort Knox will hold its annual Patriot Day observance at the General George Patton Museum of Leadership Sept. 11, commemorating 25 years since the attacks.
The ceremony, which is open to the public, will be held at 9 a.m. in the 9/11 exhibit room. On display is the Foam 161 aircraft rescue vehicle operated by firefighters from the then Fort Myer Fire Department during the attack on the Pentagon.
Commanding General of U.S. Army Cadet Command and Fort Knox Brig. Gen. Dale Crocket will provide opening remarks followed by an invocation from Fort Knox Chaplain (Col.) Eric Spicer. The 100th Army Band will play taps during the ceremony.
Serving as guest speaker will be Sgt. Maj. (retired) Tony Rose, who was on Lt. Gen. Timothy Maude’s personnel staff, serving as the Army’s senior career counselor sergeant major during the attack on the Pentagon. His office was directly above where American Airlines Flight 77 crashed into west wing of the building.
