FORT HUACHUCA, Ariz. — The Network Enterprise Technology Command (NETCOM) held a change of responsibility ceremony Aug. 6, 2026, on Brown Parade Field, formally transferring duties from Command Sgt. Maj. Michael J. Runk to incoming Command Sgt. Maj. Adam B. Schuessler.

Maj. Gen. Jacqueline D. McPhail, NETCOM commanding general, presided over the event, which featured a presentation of gifts, a salute of honors and remarks from senior leaders. Special guests included Lt. Gen. Christopher Eubank, commanding general of Army Cyber Command (ARCYBER), and Command Sgt. Maj. Jebin Heyse, ARCYBER command sergeant major, who attended to witness the change and offer their support to the NETCOM team.

Runk, a native of Cross Plains, Wisconsin, enlisted in 1997 and has a distinguished record of service that includes multiple special operations and signal assignments and deployments in support of Operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom. During the ceremony he formally relinquished responsibilities for the command’s enlisted force, professional standards and enlisted development.

Schuessler, a native of Wellston, Michigan, enlisted in 2002 as a satellite communications operator/maintainer. Schuessler brings extensive experience in satellite and network operations, signal leadership across multiple commands, and advanced civilian education in information technology and cybersecurity, along with industry certifications in networking, security and ethical hacking.

“NETCOM’s mission to operate, defend and modernize the Army’s network continues without interruption,” said McPhail. “We welcome Command Sgt. Maj. Schuessler as he assumes responsibility for the welfare, readiness and professional development of our enlisted Soldiers worldwide.”

NETCOM is a two-star operational command responsible for providing the U.S. Army a unified network based on Zero Trust principles. The command secures, operates and defends the Army’s portion of the Department of Defense information network through lines of effort focused on People, Unified Network Operations and Transformation. NETCOM’s workforce includes approximately 13,000 Soldiers, Department of the Army civilians, host-nation personnel and contractors stationed and deployed in more than 30 countries.
