PINEVILLE, La. – Maj. Gen. Thomas Friloux, the adjutant general of Louisiana, and Command Sgt. Maj. Clifford Ockman, command senior enlisted leader for the Louisiana National Guard, were joined by Col. Scott Slaven, the LANG construction facilities management officer, State Representative Wayne McMahen, members of McInnis Brothers Construction, Inc.; Sutton Beebe Babin Architects and Somdal Associates for an official ribbon-cutting ceremony at Camp Minden near Minden, Louisiana, on Aug. 4, 2026.
“Right here in January 2024, we conducted the groundbreaking ceremony…now, two years later, we’re able to welcome Soldiers to this facility to train,” said Friloux.
This ceremony marks the completion of the Camp Minden Collective Training Barracks, a $12.1 million military construction project.
The state-of-the-art, 28,358-square-foot facility provides a consolidated space for military personnel. Key elements in the facility include classrooms for training, administrative and supply offices, a full kitchen, multi-use spaces and billeting for 168 Soldiers. The new facility features solar thermal water collectors, a 50-kilowatt solar field and a 100-kilowatt natural gas emergency generator.
“Guided by the visionary design of Sutton Beebe Babin Architects and Somdal Associates and brought to life through the exceptional craftsmanship of McInnis Brothers, this state-of-the-art facility consolidates critical requirements for Soldier training. Furthermore, this complex is built for the future,” said Friloux. “Construction projects are a full team effort, and I know that any Soldier fortunate to train here will appreciate this facility for many years to come.”
