Hoosier National Guard soldier recognized for streamlining talent management
INDIANAPOLIS — In June the Army recognized an Indiana National Guard soldier for his innovative and transformative process to help streamline the Army's talent management system not only in the Army but also in the Army National Guard and Army Reserves as well.
Chief Warrant Officer 5 Darren Minnemann, who's served in the military for nearly 40 years, was named as a Distinguished Member of the Adjutant General Corps for revolutionizing how the Army manages its soldiers during a ceremony at Fort Jackson, South Carolina.
Minnemann, who has served in the Indiana National Guard since 1991, answered questions about being recognized and explained his efforts to transform how the Army manages personnel systems, improved processing and created a framework that improves the Army talent management system.
How do you feel about being recognized for being the Distinguished Member of the AG Corps?
It is an incredible honor to be nominated by my peers nationwide and ultimately selected as a Distinguished Member of the AG Corps. Since only a select few are chosen each year, this recognition holds immense value. More than a personal achievement, I believe it brings great credit to the Indiana Army National Guard and highlights the exceptional caliber of our 420A cohort.
Why is it important to you?
This recognition is important to me because I believe deeply in the mission of the AG Corps and the strength of the 420A warrant officer cohort — both here in Indiana and across the country. For me, it is about leadership by example. I want to show others what is possible when you dedicate yourself to uplifting your peers, driving excellence and paving a clear path for future leaders to follow.
Summarize what you did to become a distinguished member.
My efforts focused on building the foundational systems, cross-component bridges, and standardized products that modernize how we operate. The impact stretches far beyond Indiana. The strategic tools and collaborative networks my team established have now been adopted across all 54 states and territories, benefiting all three Army components — Active, Guard, and Reserve. Locally, this positions the Indiana National Guard as a forward-thinking leader in innovation and ensures our soldiers operate with highest-tier efficiency.
How do you think your efforts will impact the National Guard as a whole and the Indiana National Guard specifically?

I just want to express my gratitude to the leadership and the team around me. No one achieves a milestone like this in isolation. This recognition is a testament to the collaborative spirit of the Indiana National Guard and our shared commitment to taking care of soldiers.
