    III Armored Corps Welcomes Brig. Gen. Jared D. Bordwell as new DCG-M

    FORT HOOD, Texas — III Armored Corps welcomed Brig. Gen. Jared D. Bordwell as the incoming deputy commanding general for maneuver during a welcome ceremony July 10 at Fort Hood.

    The ceremony formally introduced Bordwell to the Phantom Corps as he assumed leadership responsibilities in support of the corps' mission to build and sustain combat-ready forces.

    The ceremony began with honors to the host and the nation, followed by an invocation delivered by Lt. Col. Jacob Snodgrass, chaplain, III Armored Corps. The 1st Cavalry Division Band provided musical support throughout the ceremony.

    Lt. Gen. Kevin D. Admiral, commanding general of III Armored Corps, welcomed Bordwell and his family to the installation and highlighted the corps' history, mission and commitment to maintaining ready formations capable of conducting unified land operations. Bordwell also addressed those in attendance before the official portion of the ceremony concluded with the playing of the Army Song.

    Soldiers, Army civilians, family members and distinguished guests attended the ceremony to recognize the leadership transition.

    As deputy commanding general for maneuver, Bordwell will assist the commanding general in overseeing the readiness, training and employment of maneuver formations across III Armored Corps. In this role, he will help synchronize operations and support the corps' responsibility to provide combat-ready forces prepared to deploy in support of Army and joint force requirements worldwide.

    Before joining III Armored Corps, Bordwell served as the deputy commanding general for support of the 1st Armored Division at Fort Bliss, Texas. A graduate of Washington State University, he has served in a variety of command and staff assignments throughout the operational Army.

    His previous assignments include service with the 2nd Infantry Division, 101st Airborne Division, 7th Infantry Division, Army Futures Command, and multiple joint and special operations organizations. Throughout his career, Bordwell has commanded at the company, battalion and brigade levels, including 2nd Battalion, 3rd Infantry Regiment, and the 1st Brigade, 2nd Stryker Brigade Combat Team.

    Additional assignments include division chief of staff, brigade operations officer, Infantry Branch lieutenant colonel assignment officer, executive officer to the commanding general of Army Futures Command, and J3 for the Special Operations Joint Task Force–Afghanistan/NATO Special Operations Component Command–Afghanistan.

    Bordwell has deployed multiple times in support of Operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom. His military decorations include the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal and Army Commendation Medal with "V" Device, in addition to numerous campaign, service and qualification awards.

    Bordwell succeeds Brig. Gen. Geoff Van Epps, who served as the III Armored Corps deputy commanding general for maneuver since July 2024.

    Following the ceremony, Bordwell greeted Soldiers, Army civilians, family members and distinguished guests, accepting congratulations and meeting members of the Phantom Corps community as he officially began his assignment with III Armored Corps.
