JOINT BASE ANDREWS, Md. – The Royal Air Force Aerobatic Team, the Red Arrows, visited America's Airfield as part of the Royal Air Force's Operation Eagle Hawk tour of the United States, strengthening the longstanding partnership between the United Kingdom and the United States through professional engagement and aviation cooperation, June 26, 2026.

The visit brought members of the Royal Air Force Aerobatic Team, the Red Arrows, together with Airmen assigned to the 89th Airlift Wing and 316th Wing to exchange expertise, strengthen allied cooperation and celebrate a shared commitment to military professionalism.

As the home of Special Air Missions, America’s Airfield serves as the nation's premier gateway for international diplomacy, making it the ideal setting for the 89th Airlift Wing to host its global strategic partners.

Royal Air Force Wing Commander Jon Bond, team leader and Red 1 of the Red Arrows, said bringing the team to Andrews was an important stop during the Royal Air Force's Operation Eagle Hawk tour of the United States.

"It was an honor to bring the Red Arrows to Andrews as part of the team's Operation Eagle Hawk tour of the United States marking America 250," Bond said.

Throughout the day, Red Arrows personnel met with wing leadership, participated in mission briefings and prepared their aircraft for an aerial demonstration rehearsal during their North American tour.

The engagement allowed hosting Airmen to observe the planning, coordination and precision required to operate a military flight demonstration team while strengthening relationships between allied aviators.

Bond said meeting Airmen at Andrews reinforced the enduring relationship between the United Kingdom and the United States.

"I'd like to pay tribute to the fantastic support we received during our short stay at the base,” Bond said. “Meeting so many of the great personnel at Andrews underlined just how close the enduring relationship is between the UK and US, especially among our two nation's militaries."

The United Kingdom and the United States have maintained one of the world's closest defense partnerships for decades, routinely operating together in support of shared security objectives.

As the Department of the Air Force supports Freedom 250 activities throughout 2026, engagements with international allies reinforce the enduring partnerships that have strengthened interoperability and advanced collective security while commemorating America's 250th anniversary.
