Recruiting Advantage: Reserve Recruiters Sharpen Edge at GTE

Air Force Reserve recruiters streamline professional development and collaboration to hone in on targeted recruiting efforts at a Group Training Event that focused on strengthening recruiting effectiveness across the force, June 8-11, 2026, Orlando, Florida.

Centered on the theme, "Sharpen the Edge: Building Lethal, Ready and Relentless Recruiters," the training brought together the 367th Recruiting Group, Robins Air Force Base, Georgia, support staff, Health Professions recruiters, and Officer Accessions recruiters from across the globe to share best practices, align recruiting objectives, and strengthen partnerships throughout specialty recruiting channels.

“This training event is the new chapter for Officer Accessions Recruiting,” said Senior Master Sgt. James Alexander, Officer Accessions Program manager, Randolph Air Force Base, Texas. “We’re energized to stand up as our own division, modernize our processes, and aggressively pursue the critical warfighters our Reserve force needs for the future.”

The event provided an opportunity for recruiters to exchange ideas, discuss emerging market trends, and develop strategies to compete for highly qualified candidates in an increasingly challenging recruiting environment.

"The biggest win was just getting all of Officer Accessions and Health Professions in the same room," said Senior Master Sgt. Sara Ortiz, Officer Accessions and Health Professions recruiting flight chief, Fort Worth Naval Air Station, Texas. "Being able to bounce ideas off each other, figure out what's actually working on the ground, and get on the same page about our main goals was huge."

Ortiz said the collaboration created a common framework for engaging prospective applicants and gave recruiters greater confidence to conduct targeted outreach efforts.

According to Senior Master Sgt. Ronald Reyes, 367 RCG Health Professions recruiter, Fort Worth NAS, Texas, the event fostered collaboration and a shared understanding of recruiting objectives across multiple accession pathways.

"As competition for qualified medical professionals becomes increasingly challenging, these training opportunities allow recruiters to exchange best practices, discuss trends, and gain insight into the unique challenges and opportunities each recruiting specialty faces," Reyes said.

Beyond professional development, participants strengthened relationships that will continue to support recruiting efforts long after the event concluded.

"The knowledge gained and relationships established during this event will contribute to a more informed, collaborative, and successful specialty recruiting effort," Reyes said.

Leaders expect the training to result in improved coordination between recruiting teams, enhanced market awareness, and stronger professional partnerships, helping recruiters better identify opportunities, engage competitive candidates, and support the Air Force Reserve recruiting mission.
