Wright assumes command of the 167th Airlift Wing

A change of command ceremony to mark the transition of wing leadership was held at the 167th Airlift Wing, Shepherd Field, Martinsburg, West Virginia, June 13.

U.S. Air Force Col. Christopher Sigler, who served as the wing’s commander since January 2025, relinquished command to Col. Randall Wright who was previously serving as the 167th Operations Group commander.

Presiding official for the ceremony, Brig. Gen. David Cochran, Assistant Adjutant General – Air, West Virginia National Guard, expressed his appreciation for Sigler’s hard work and his confidence in Wright’s ability to lead the wing.

“You’re ready, you’ve got vision,” Cochran said to Wright. Then turning his attention to the audience, Cochran said, “He understands the numbers and the metrics, but more importantly, he understands what it takes to get the job done and all of the support that goes behind what we need to do, and do it at a very, very high level.”

Wright enlisted in the 167th Aerial Port Squadron in 1998. Six years later he was commissioned and then earned his pilot wings. He has flown C-5 A/B and C-17 A aircraft for the 167th and has served in numerous capacities throughout his career including conversion budget officer, chief of safety, executive officer, squadron commander and group commander.

“Today, I am truly honored to assume command of the wing,” said Wright. “I am grateful for the trust, well aware of the responsibilities, and blessed to stand with the premiere men and women who serve at the 167th Airlift Wing.”
