Insurgents attack Afghan, coalition force in Khost

KABUL, Afghanistan – Insurgents attacked a combined Afghan and coalition patrol with small-arms and rocket-propelled grenade fire near a combat outpost in the Sperah district of Khost province yesterday.

The combined force positively identified insurgent firing positions and responded with mortar fire. The force also called for support from an attack weapons team.

The weapons team engaged the insurgent firing positions, resulting in 14 insurgents killed.

Initial operational reporting states there were no civilian casualties.
