Some people remember their first day of school, others recall their first day of work, but Spc. Victoria Pagan with the District of Columbia National Guard in support of the DC Safe and Beautiful mission, regards her first time wearing the U.S. Army uniform as a peak milestone.
“In that moment, I understood the honor and responsibility that comes with serving my country and my people,” she shares. As a military police officer with the 276th Military Police Company, she takes pride in her commitment to safeguarding communities, supporting missions and ensuring the safety and security of the American people.
“I joined the Army to become a part of something greater than myself, to grow into the strongest, most disciplined, and purpose-driven version of who I can be,” she says.
She credits her uncle, Joel Pagan, a prior Army service member, as being a strong influence and guiding her path to military service.
“I believe my service carries a greater purpose to help foster strength, compassion, and unity among the people around us while contributing to a safe future for our nation.”
For Pagan, the most rewarding part of military service has been the lifelong bonds and sense of family she has gained through the Army. When she’s not actively serving she enjoys writing poetry and music, reading, and experiencing live music performances. Pagan hopes that her service will build a safer, stronger future for the American people.
