The 735th Air Mobility Squadron (AMS) provided mobility and compliance leaders from across the Indo-Pacific an inside look at the theater’s evolving approach to readiness training during a multi-day tabletop exercise April 27–30, 2026.

Originally developed in 2023 as an internal initiative, the 735th AMS TTX has matured into a scalable training environment. It is designed to prepare Airmen, noncommissioned officers, and company-grade officers for the high-stakes complexities of wartime operations.

The April 2026 iteration focused on the squadron’s advanced “Varsity” scenario. This high-stress, 24-hour surge simulation tested the unit against realistic operational constraints and competing mission demands.

Representatives from the 515th Air Mobility Operations Group and multiple Air Mobility Squadrons observed the exercise. Their goal: capture lessons learned, evaluate design methods, and identify best practices to strengthen readiness within their own organizations.

“This isn’t just about training our squadron anymore,” said Master Sgt. Yvonne Stubbs, 735th AMS passenger services section chief and TTX mentor. “We’re building an environment where units across the theater can observe real problem-solving and tactical decision-making. It helps everyone improve together.”

The exercise challenged participants to assess the squadron’s ability to support 70 aircraft movements, process thousands of passengers and manage more than 1,100 pallet position equivalents within a compressed 24-hour period. Using current manning levels, real-world equipment availability and simulated aircraft maintenance issues, the exercise forced teams to adapt under pressure while operating in a no-fault learning environment.

Facilitated by the squadron’s compliance experts, the exercise incorporated detailed Master Scenario Events Lists, operational injects and evolving desired learning objectives designed to replicate the uncertainty and complexity of real-world contingency operations.

“Watching tactical units work through problems in real time reveals challenges and second-order effects you simply can’t see on paper,” said Master Sgt. Bradley Stevens, 735th AMS quality assurance section chief. “The goal is to create agile leaders who can think critically, communicate effectively and execute commander’s intent even when conditions change.”

Feedback from previous iterations has refined the exercise, leading to better tactical planning tools and visual tracking systems.

“Our objective is to provide a model other units can adapt,” said Lt Col DeWalt, 735th AMS commander. “By collaborating with partners across the theater, we strengthen readiness well beyond our own squadron and develop more mission-focused mobility teams for the Indo-Pacific.”
