FORT HOOD, Texas — Chaplains, religious affairs specialists, Soldiers and civilians gathered for the annual III Armored Corps National Day of Prayer Breakfast hosted by Maj. Gen. Andy Cox, the III Armored Corps Deputy Commander May 8, 2025, at the Lone Star Conference Center.
The installation typically hosts the annual prayer breakfast on Thursdays to coincide with the National Day of Prayer, though this year, the breakfast took place on a Friday. The breakfast offered an opportunity for diverse faiths to gather in fellowship, share a meal, and engage in prayer. During the litany of prayers, many chaplains of various religions, prayed for the nation, the Army, deployed service members, Fort Hood families and fallen comrades.
U.S. Army Col. LaHavie J. Brunson, the 13th Armored Corps Sustainment Command Commanding Officer, and guest speaker for the event, spoke about his faith journey, family and Army career. He also discussed the challenges he has faced in life both personally and professionally and how connecting with others through prayer has helped him along the way.
“I am here to do one thing, which is to share my heart and my faith with you,” said Brunson. “Our ability to connect with each other is the most fundamental important part of my service.”
Brunson discussed the importance of sharing prayers for and with one another.
“We have all often heard that the most precious gift you can give someone is your time, as it is both precious and important. I would offer, if your personal faith and conviction take you there, there’s nothing more precious than prayer and the offer of prayer for someone and perhaps the vulnerability of sharing that you’re a believer with another person.”
