CAMP GRUBER, Okla. – Engineering installation Airmen from the Oklahoma and Minnesota Air National Guard conducted joint training in a simulated contested environment in preparation for deployment during Exercise Thunderwolf, Camp Gruber Training Center, Oklahoma, April 26-27, 2026.
Exercise Thunderwolf contained two days of high-level on-the-job training in vehicle, cabling, antenna and tower maintenance, as well as base defense and Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear training.
“We are here preparing for our upcoming deployments, learning how to drive vehicles, climb towers and perform preventative maintenance on them,” said a radar, airfields and weather systems technician assigned to the 137th Special Operations Wing.
The two training days allowed the two squadrons to build rapport, test their skills and receive upgrade training in a controlled training environment.
“There's opportunities to check off some of the upgrade training to prepare them for heading out the door,” said 205th Engineering Installation Squadron Commander Lieutenant Col. Dennie French, Oklahoma Air National Guard. “We're on deck for a deployment, this gets those guys ready to move out.”
