GREENSBORO, North Carolina – Sailors assigned to Navy Reserve Center (NRC) Greensboro hosted a blood drive on May 2, 2026.

The blood drive was hosted in partnership with the American Red Cross during May drill weekend at the Triad Armed Forces Reserve Center in Greensboro, North Carolina.

The event highlights the ongoing commitment of Navy Reserve Sailors to support their local communities and critical national organizations.

For some Sailors, the event was a continuation of a long-standing personal commitment to giving back.

Electrician’s Mate 1st Class Paris Walters, assigned to Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command in Washington D.C., explains his history with Red Cross. “In 2014, when I was a sophomore at Hunt High School in Wilson, NC, that’s where I started volunteering for Red Cross blood drives,” said Walters.

Gunner’s Mate 2nd Class Keyon McNiell, assigned to Navy Reserve Readiness Support unit, started donating to the Red Cross when he was 17 years old has been doing so for over 10 years.

Events like this blood drive reinforce the Navy's community relations while directly contributing to the health and readiness of the broader community.

The American Red Cross, a nonprofit organization depending on volunteers and the generosity of the American public, supplies about 40% of the nation’s blood and provides vital support to veterans, military members, and their families.

NRC Greensboro provides warfighter mission support, customer service, and mobilization readiness training for the Mid-Atlantic Region Navy Reserve Force.
