The senior materiel leader for Command and Control, Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance retired April 24, at the Museum of Aviation here, after 30 years of service.

Col. Scott Rothermel received the Legion of Merit during the ceremony, which was presided over by Steven Wert, a member of the Senior Executive Service and the Deputy Assistant Secretary for Acquisition Integration, Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Acquisition, Technology and Logistics, the Pentagon, Arlington, Va. For the past four years, Rothermel led the 700-member division, executing a more than $1 billion annual budget to modernize critical components of the DAF Battle Network.

C2ISR is a division within the Department of the Air Force Portfolio Acquisition Executive for Command, Control, Communications and Battle Management. C3BM is responsible for managing the DAF Battle Network, the integrated system-of-systems connecting sensor, effector, and logistics systems enabling better situational awareness, faster operational decisions, and decisive direction to the force.

Rothermel’s replacement will be installed at an assumption of responsibility event this summer.
