FORT HUACHUCA, Ariz. — U.S. Marines with 1st Combat Engineer Battalion (CEB), 1st Marine Division, transferred authority to Combat Logistics Battalion (CLB) 7, 1st Marine Logistics Group, during a transfer of authority ceremony at Fort Huachuca, April 15, 2026, marking the continued support of Joint Task Force-Southern Border (JTF-SB) operations.

As part of the Department of War’s support to the Department of Homeland Security, Marine engineer units assigned to JTF-SB provide critical engineering capabilities along the southern border, including barrier reinforcement and road improvements. These efforts enhance mobility, strengthen existing infrastructure, and support federal partners in maintaining border security operations.

During their rotation, Marines with 1st CEB made significant contributions to the mission, emplacing more than 65,000 meters of wire obstacle and clearing over 80,000 square meters of vegetation. Their efforts enhanced the existing barrier systems and improved visibility and access along key areas of the southern border.

The incoming unit, CLB 7, brings robust logistical and engineering capabilities to the mission, including heavy equipment operations that support mobility and barrier reinforcement along the southern border.

“Our Marines stand ready to uphold our nation’s security and safeguard its borders with unwavering dedication and professionalism,” said Lt. Col. Gregory Lynch, commanding officer of CLB 7. “We will maintain strategic control over the southern border in our area of operations, ensuring collaboration with our interagency partners while continuing the progress made by those who served before us.”

With the transfer complete, CLB 7 assumes responsibility for continuing engineering operations in support of JTF-SB, building on the progress of 1st CEB to enhance infrastructure and sustain mission readiness across the area of operations.
