BAER FIELD AIR NATIONAL GUARD BASE, Ind. – U.S. Air Force Chief Master Sgt. Kyle Hoopingarner retired after 27 years in service during a ceremony April 12, 2026 at the 122nd Fighter Wing, Fort Wayne, Indiana.

“I think you had the most important job on this base by far, ensuring that this mission operates, that we can execute this mission, that our Airmen are ready,” said U.S. Air Force Col. Scott Boatright, 122nd Fighter Wing commander. “We greatly appreciate you.”

Hoopingarner credited his family and hundreds of friends and fellow Airmen who supported, mentored, and helped steer his course over the past 27 years. He highlighted the legacy he was proud to leave behind, namely, the thousands of Airmen he’s led and worked with over the years.

“It’s been an honor to spend my entire military career as a Blacksnake, and it’s been a privilege to serve with some of the greatest people that I’ve ever known,” Hoopingarner said. “Thanks for a lifetime of memories.”
