FORT SHAFTER, Hawaii — Command Sgt. Maj. Brian J. Morrison, outgoing senior enlisted advisor of the 8th Theater Sustainment Command, relinquishes responsibility to Command Sgt. Maj. Montrell L. Kea during a change of responsibility ceremony at Hamilton Field, Schofield Barracks, Hawaii, April 1, 2026.

The 8th Theater Sustainment Command enables U.S. Army operations across the Indo-Pacific by providing logistics and sustainment support to joint and multinational forces, strengthening readiness and regional partnerships.

The change of responsibility ceremony is a time-honored military tradition that signifies the transfer of authority and responsibility from one noncommissioned officer to another. The passing of the unit guidon symbolizes continuity of leadership and the trust placed in the incoming senior enlisted advisor.

“One represents a chapter of excellence completed,” said Maj. Gen. Gavin J. Gardner, commanding general, 8th TSC. “The other, a new chapter of potential begun.”

Morrison assumed duties as the command’s senior enlisted advisor on Sept. 18, 2025. During his tenure, he supported sustainment operations across the Indo-Pacific, contributing to joint exercises, multinational training, and theater-wide readiness efforts.

“You, the Soldiers of the 8th TSC, have been the face of freedom, enabling our partners in the Pacific,” said Morrison. “It is you who have been the tip of the spear—deploying, training, and honing your craft alongside our partners.”

Kea assumes responsibility as the senior enlisted advisor following multiple leadership assignments across operational and institutional Army formations. In his remarks, he emphasized his commitment to Soldiers and to sustaining the command’s high standards.

“My privilege is to give you 100 percent of my effort every single day,” said Kea. “I am proud to be a Soldier, and I am proud to be on your team.”
