FORT HUACHUCA, AZ — The United States Army Network Enterprise Technology Command (NETCOM) announced this week that macOS device management is now available across the Army’s Unified Directory Services, allowing Apple M‑series devices to be operated and secured as part of the enterprise environment.

AUDS‑managed macOS systems will include enterprise applications such as Microsoft Teams, Outlook, Office 365, Adobe software, common web browsers, VPN access and endpoint protection, officials said.

Command leaders said the capability brings hardware‑based security and longer replacement cycles, improves user satisfaction and productivity, and broadens endpoint choices to help attract and retain skilled personnel while reducing dependence on a single operating system.

Procurement guidance requires macOS devices be purchased as Government Furnished Equipment through Army CHESS and specifies support for Apple silicon M‑series devices only; Intel‑based macOS devices are not supported. Units can enroll GFE macOS devices through the Army Enterprise Service Management Portal (AESMP) following published AESD knowledge base enrollment instructions.

NETCOM said it will continue expanding macOS support as part of ongoing efforts to modernize the Army network and strengthen readiness.
