Lt. Gen. Donna Shipton, Commander, Air Force Life Cycle Management Center, met with the Consul General of Japan in Detroit Hajime “Jimmy” Kishimori during his visit to Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio, March 5, 2026.

The consul general also met with Brig. Gen. Jeffrey Geraghty Director of the Air Force Security Assistance and Cooperation Directorate (AFSAC) and his team to get a better understanding of the mission at Wright-Patt. Kishimori’s visit centered on exploring the role that the US - Japanese alliance plays in the political and economic impact around the Dayton area.

"It was an honor to host Consul General Kishimori at the Air Force Security Assistance and Cooperation Directorate,” said Geraghty. “The visit highlights the critical importance of the U.S.-Japan alliance, which serves as the cornerstone of peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific. Our discussions reaffirmed our shared commitment to strengthening our international partnership and advancing national security. AFSAC is dedicated to delivering world-class airpower capabilities, and direct engagement with our partners like Japan is essential to ensuring our mutual defense and deepening the industrial cooperation that benefits both our nations.”

During his visit Kishimori had the opportunity to meet with three Japanese nationals currently working at Wright-Patt. Two, one civilian Miki Matsuo, and one military member Lt. Col. Takuya Kamigataguchi work at AFSAC. The third Japanese national, another military member, Maj. Yoshie Suganuma works in the C-130 program office, which is in AFLCMC’s Mobility Directorate.
