CMSAF and spouse visit Nellis AFB to immerse in Airmen’s quality of life

NELLIS AIR FORCE BASE, Nevada – Chief Master Sergeant of the Air Force David R. Wolfe and his spouse, Dr. Doniel Wolfe, visited Nellis Air Force Base, Nevada, Feb. 19-20, 2026, to discuss the Air Force’s focus on readiness, modernization, and improving quality of life for Airmen and their families.

During the visit, CMSAF immersed with the 99th Communications Squadron, Nellis dormitories, and received briefings on Nellis’ role in developing lethal, agile warfighters and advancing integrated airpower across the joint force.

Home to the U.S. Air Force Warfare Center and the Nevada Test and Training Range, Nellis is known as the premier hub for developing, testing and integrating fifth-generation airpower. The U.S. Air Force Warfare Center focuses on advanced electronic warfare and joint-force simulation while the Nevada Test and Training Range – 2.9 million acres of desert and mountainous landscape – facilitates multiple large-force exercises to develop tactics for future contested environments.

The Airmen at Nellis are the ones who drive modernization through these evolving exercises, designed to accelerate learning, instill discipline in participants, and build a more lethal force. CMSAF encouraged them to continue being the innovators that make Nellis a leader in modernization and shaping of air combat tactics and readiness.

“Innovation is built on an attitude that challenges the status quo,” CMSAF said. “To make the best decisions, we must foster an environment of multiple perspectives.”

During the visit, CMSAF hosted an all-call to speak directly with the Airmen from across the base. In attendance were Airmen from 4 wings, the USAFWC and NTTR. The combined efforts of these Airmen help to create an environment simulating realistic, contested and multi-domain combat scenarios, transforming aircrew and mission support readiness into a reality.

“As an Air Force, we must cultivate an attitude where every Airman is valued for who they are,” CMSAF said. “Your rank is your role and responsibility, not a measure of your worth as an individual.”

In addition to the all call, both CMSAF and Dr. Wolfe spent time with Airmen and spouses as an opportunity for questions and feedback to senior leaders. They underscored the importance of military spouses as an asset to military installations, supporting logistics, project management and resilience.

“We recognize the incredible competence our military spouses bring to the fight,” CMSAF said. “Their skills are a vital resource we need to integrate to help solve our toughest challenges.”

Along with engaging with Airmen, CMSAF and Dr. Wolfe met with Nellis’ key leaders to strengthen and reinforce a shared commitment to improving quality of life efforts to sustain high standards and combat readiness. CMSAF also toured dormitories to better assess conditions firsthand and identify opportunities to enhance quality of life for Airmen at every level.

“Seeing someone in that high rank, the highest enlisted leader in the Air Force, come here to interact with us shows that they care about us,” said Airman 1st Class Yasser Qchibil, a diet therapy technician assigned to the 99th Surgical Operations Squadron. “It makes us realize that leaders are looking out for us and that is comforting.”

CMSAF and Dr. Wolfe’s visit emphasized the Air Force’s commitment to investing in its Airmen and their families, and strengthening foundations to increase combat readiness. Throughout their engagements, CMSAF and Dr. Wolfe reinforced the importance of readiness through quality of life, modernization, discipline and attitude by building a resilient, lethal force prepared to win to Nellis’ leaders and Airmen.
