Ramirez assumes responsibility as Command Sergeant Major of 40th Division Sustainment Brigade
Command Sergeant Major Claudia P. Ramirez assumed responsibility as senior enlisted advisor of 40th Division Sustainment Brigade at Army Barracks Long Beach, California, Feb. 20, 2026.

During the ceremony, Ramirez participated in the time-honored tradition of passing of the unit flag from Outgoing Command Sgt. Maj. to the Incoming Command Sgt. Major. This tradition provides the opportunity to showcase the assumption of responsibility to the entire unit.

"I am truly honored and deeply humbled to stand before you during this Assumption of Responsibility ceremony," Ramirez said during her remarks. "Moments like this remind us that leadership is never a solo journey, it is built on trust, shared sacrifice, and the people who walk alongside us."

Ramirez began her career in June 1999, graduating from On Station Unit Training at Fort Leonard Wood, MO, and earning the prior military occupational specialty of 74D Chemical Biological Radiological and Nuclear Specialist.

After 3 years of active-duty service Ramirez transitioned into the California Army National Guard in July 2002, where she has served in myriad leadership positions throughout her 23-year career prior to taking her current post as Command Sgt. Major of the 40th Division, Sustainment Branch.

"Although I have had the privilege of serving in this role for the past year, today carries special meaning," said Ramirez. "This ceremony is not just a formal recognition, it is a reaffirmation of my commitment to serve you with purpose, humility, and heart.”

"I am proud to serve as your Brigade Command Sergeant Major. I am proud to serve alongside you and I am honored to continue this journey with you.”
