FBI Citizens Academy Class Tours 433rd AW, Gains Insight Into Airlift Mission
More than two dozen participants in the FBI San AntonioCitizens Academy visited the 433rd Airlift Wing Aug. 5, 2025, for a mission briefing and tour of the C-5M Super Galaxy.
The visit offered participants a unique opportunity to engage directly with Reserve Airmen and learn how the 433rd AW, also known as the Alamo Wing, supports joint missions, including humanitarian relief, aeromedical evacuation, and interagency operations.
“As part of the Air Force Reserve’s role in the joint force, our Airmen can be activated to work alongside federal partners like the FBI,” said Col. Douglas Jeffrey, 433rd AW commander. “We have to be ready now, whether that means deploying globally in 72 hours or supporting civil authorities at home.”
During the visit, guests received an in-depth mission overview, including a walkthrough of the C-5M’s capabilities. Col. Jeffrey emphasized the importance of community partnerships and highlighted how the Reserve structure, made up of traditional reservists, air reserve technicians, and active guard and reserve members, connects military service directly to the civilian workforce.
“Our Airmen live and work in communities across the country, but they come here because of the culture and the mission,” Jeffrey said. “When emergencies strike, whether at home or abroad, we’re often among the ones who show up... anytime, anywhere.”
The visit reinforced the wing’s role in strengthening relationships with local civic leaders and demonstrated the value of transparency and education in fostering interagency cooperation.
