A Wolf Pack Winter Wonderland: Wolf Pack hosts Winter Fest 2025

KUNSAN AIR BASE, Republic of Korea – Members of the Wolf Pack celebrated Winter Fest 2025, a resiliency day for the 8th Fighter Wing, at Kunsan Air Base on Dec. 5.

Airmen, civilians, and family members participated in a variety of competitive and non-competitive games, sports, classes and festive activities with the goal of exploring different avenues of building resiliency.

“Accomplishing our mission with excellence requires resilient Airmen,” said Chief Master Sgt. Amanda Aaron, 8th Fighter Wing command chief. “Resiliency days like these allow the Wolf Pack to strengthen their mental, physical, social, and spiritual fitness to keep them in the fight.”

At sunrise, Winter Fest kicked off with an outdoor 5K run, followed by competitive and non-competitive activities held in various base facilities.

Competitive activities included e-sports, ping-pong, billiards, dodgeball, volleyball, weightlifting, basketball and pickleball.

Noncompetitive activities included yoga, spin classes, painting, arts & crafts, bachata dancing, financial and stress management classes, and traditional Korean cooking classes.

During the closing ceremony, Col. Kathryn “Wolf” Gaetke, 8th FW commander, recognized the benefit of gaining multidisciplinary skills when Airmen actively step into roles outside of their knowledge base.

“Resiliency demonstrates our ability to function in different capacities,” said Gaetke. “As Airmen learn their trade and develop their skills as team members, supervisors, and leaders, they must be prepared to adapt to new roles that test their strengths in order to reach mission success.”

As sunset approached Kunsan, base personnel gathered in front of the Wolf Pack Base Theatre to watch the sky light up during a base tree lighting ceremony hosted by the 8th FW Chapel team.

Events like these serve as reminders that community and resilience fosters mission readiness in our Airmen and keeps them fit to fight, always prepared to take the fight north.
