ARLINGTON, Va., – The Department of the Air Force’s Deputy Program Executive Officer for Command, Control, Communications and Battle Management is set to submit for deferred retirement in January, 2026.
Gordon Kordyak began terminal leave in December after more than 19 years of government service. Kordyak served as deputy PEO for three years and was instrumental in bringing together the Air Force and Space Force capabilities that make up the DAF BATTLE NETWORK.
“Helping grow the C3BM organization was like catching lightning in a bottle,” Kordyak said. “I think one of the biggest things that I got to see was how a group of amazing individuals aligned around a common purpose can come together, effect change, and drive progress when you have something you want to achieve.”
As the senior Space Force representative of the organization working with Airmen, Guardians, government civilians and contractors, Kordyak said the role gave him a unique perspective.
“When I first came to C3BM it was after working in the space community for over 20 years in both a programmatic and Pentagon staff capacity,” he said. “Within C3BM, my perspective broadened towards aligning the equities of the Air Force and Space Force to get after the needs of the DAF and Joint Force. Through activities like the DAF operational imperatives, we got to employ the C3BM values of extreme teaming, violent execution, and ruthless focus. One of the biggest things that I got to experience was how a clear vision of the future is the difference between success and failure. If you want to bring attention to something important, you have to communicate a vision of it clearly, simply, and objectively. Doing this well generates trust and credibility in the system to achieve more than you ever thought possible.”
During his time in C3BM, he led several initiatives that helped connect critical space programs to the DAF BATTLE NETWORK. Kordyak was able to solidify funding to enable the launch of programs of record, while leveraging DAF capabilities to meet the needs of multiple stakeholders.
“When it comes to thinking about bridging between the Space Force and the Air Force community, understanding the needs of the stakeholders and larger community is crucial,” he said. “Connecting the DAF BATTLE NETWORK is a technical thing, but frankly it’s really a network of stakeholders and community members all presenting their solutions together.”
The success of these initiatives and connecting key space programs to the DAF BATTLE NETWORK underscored the value of Kordyak's vision and dedication.
“Gordon has been an absolute godsend to me and the entire C3BM team,” said Maj. Gen. Luke Cropsey, C3BM program executive officer. “As the PEO’s first deputy and our lead Space Force acquisition expert, he's been nothing short of brilliant over the past three years. Words fail to describe his passionate commitment, professional acumen, and dedication to the team and the mission. He is indispensable to me personally, and without his loyal partnership, compassionate leadership, and unwavering focus on delivering to our warfighters, we would not be where we are today.”
