For Staff Sgt. Claire Bigelow-Lundin, a traffic management specialist with the 153rd Logistics Readiness Squadron, supporting the 153rd Airlift Wing’s mission starts with making sure every shipment gets where it needs to go when it needs to be there. Without this, the mission falls apart before it can begin.
Bigelow-Lundin spends drill weekends checking inbound deliveries, preparing outbound shipments and coordinating freight pickups. While it may not be a forward facing mission, it's essential that it’s done well in order for the mission to continue. It’s detailed work that requires accuracy, communication and a clear understanding of how each package connects to the bigger picture.
“We do a little bit of everything,” she said. “We make sure shipments are labeled, documented and sent out the right way so the shops get what they need.”
After spending around 9 years serving in units across multiple states, Bigelow-Lundin joined the Wyoming Air National Guard. She says the teamwork within Traffic Management and Ground Transportation is what makes the job rewarding.
“When something unexpected happens, everyone comes together and figures it out,” she said. “It’s a tight group, and we communicate well. That’s what gets the mission done.”
Outside the Guard, Bigelow-Lundin works for the U.S. Department of Agriculture as a range conservationist, helping private landowners manage forage and agricultural resources. She enjoys hiking, golfing, and spending time outdoors with her dogs.
