From Oct. 15–30, 2025, six U.S. Marine Corps MV-22B Ospreys and their crews from Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 362 (VMM-362) operated out of Buckley Space Force Base to conduct high-elevation training and integrated with the U.S. Army 10th Special Forces Group (Airborne) from Fort Carson, Colorado.

“The training focused on maintaining a simulated alert posture to perform assault support transport of combat troops, supplies, and equipment in support of joint operations,” said Lt. Col. Brian Heeter, VMM-362 commanding officer. He added that training at higher elevations provides critical experience that helps prepare the squadron for future operational requirements.

During the two-week visit, VMM-362 personnel conducted multiple flight operations, utilizing Buckley’s airfield and surrounding airspace to meet training objectives.

As part of the training, the squadron supported the U.S. Army Green Berets with the 10th Special Forces Group (Airborne) during high-altitude free-fall (HAFF) jumps above Fort Carson. The HAFF operations reinforced precision insertion skills and strengthened airborne proficiency in dynamic, elevated environments.    The training event strengthened coordination between Marine and Army elements, reflecting ongoing joint operations conducted throughout the region. These opportunities allow participating units to refine shared procedures, practice communication across service lines, and operate in conditions similar to those they may encounter during real-world missions.
