192nd Mission Support Group conducts final change of command

JOINT BASE LANGLEY-EUSTIS, Va. -- The 192nd Mission Support Group, 192nd Wing, Virginia Air National Guard, conducted an official change of command ceremony Oct. 18, 2025, where Col. Manaal I. Burge relinquished command to Lt. Col. Jessica M. Gambone at Joint Base Langley-Eustis in Hampton, Virginia.

Col. Andrew M. Weidner, 192nd Wing commander, presided over the ceremony.

Gambone, who previously led four squadrons as the group's deputy commander, assumed command with a focus on continuing to develop ready and capable Airmen that she described as the "backbone of the wing."

"I'm excited to continue leveling up our game," Gambone said. "Each day being a little more elite, more effective and always ready."

The historic event marks the group’s final change of command under the existing organizational structure as the 192nd Wing is set to transition to an A-staff alignment in April 2026. The restructure is part of a larger U.S. Air Force reoptimization that accelerates force modernization efforts against a backdrop of evolving global threats and increases the speed at which wings can mobilize Airmen and resources for operational taskings.

Burge led the 192nd MSG through a period of organizational change, driving efforts to restructure the group into aligned squadrons and flights, establishing a ready response force able to deploy on 12-hour notice, and organizing support responsibilities to improve wing-level resource advocacy and readiness execution.

"The Mission Support Group keeps the wing running," Burge said. "Every day, every week, every deadline, this team faces challenges head on and finds a way to yes. I am immensely proud to have had the privilege of leading such a capable and driven group of Airmen."

Weidner, who will lead the 192nd Wing through the upcoming reorganization, recognized MSG as essential to readiness across every mission area.

"There is nothing that happens within this wing without the Mission Support Group," Weidner said. "You are the ignition, the key we turn to make mobilizations happen when the nation calls.
