    Navy 250: The Legacy

    The National Museum of the United States Navy presents “Navy 250: The Legacy”, a special exhibition marking 250 years of U.S. naval history, on view for one weekend only.

    “Navy 250: The Legacy” is an exhibit that commemorates the 250-year history of the United States Navy and honors the men and women who have served with distinction since the Navy’s founding in 1775. The immersive, multimedia presentation includes a 360-degree audiovisual experience and a companion exhibit space titled “We Have the Watch.”

    Through historic artifacts, cutting-edge technology, and firsthand accounts, the exhibit highlights how generations of sailors have risen to meet the challenges of their time, demonstrating courage, innovation, and dedication to duty in defense of the nation.

    This event, located across from the Liberty Bell, underscores the enduring connection between America’s maritime heritage and its enduring commitment to freedom and service.

It provides the knowledge foundation for the Navy by maintaining historically relevant resources and products that reflect the Navy's unique and enduring contributions through our nation's history and supports the fleet by assisting with and delivering professional research, analysis, and interpretive services. NHHC is composed of many activities including the Navy Department Library, the Navy Operational Archives, the Navy art and artifact collections, underwater archeology, Navy histories, ten museums, USS Constitution repair facility and the historic ship Nautilus.
