ANDERSEN AIR FORCE BASE, Guam – The 36th Civil Engineer Squadron Fire Department hosted a series of events for Fire Prevention Week Oct. 5-11, 2025, here.
Firefighters organized an eight-day campaign to raise awareness for fire safety, prevention and to educate service members and families on safety practices.
“Teaching fire prevention is huge within our community because it helps limit the number of emergencies our families may see,” said U.S. Air Force Master Sgt. Justin Miller, assistant chief of fire prevention for the 36th CES Fire Department.
The events included pep rallies at Andersen Elementary and Middle Schools on Tuesday and Wednesday, where firefighters spoke with students about the importance of fire safety. On Thursday, teams of four competed during a fire muster and experienced the physical challenges of firefighting with an obstacle course.
Events like these helped reinforce key safety lessons and spark engagement in the community.
“Andersen Fire Department engages schools and the broader community by presenting fire safety in a fun, memorable and age-appropriate way that resonates with families and encourages active participation,” said Tech. Sgt. Leatrice Robinson, noncommissioned officer in charge of fire prevention for the 36th CES Fire Department.
The week concluded with an open house at the Andersen AFB Fire Station, where families toured the facility, explored fire trucks and met the firefighters, highlighting the 36th CES Fire Department’s commitment to community outreach and education.
