OSAN AIR BASE, Republic of Korea – The 51st Logistics Readiness Squadron is revolutionizing how Osan Air Base handles travel and shipment, thanks to digital automation that saves time and boosts mission efficiency.
Under the direction of his leadership, Airman 1st Class Abedayo Adepegba, passenger travel technician 51st LRS, helped lead the initiative by applying his background in process and energy engineering.
“After sharing my background in process engineering, leadership asked if I could help design a system to make our tasks simpler,” Adepegba said. “I worked with the team to build a fully autonomous system that saves time for customers and gives Airmen more freedom to focus on the mission.”
Recognizing the need to simplify scheduling and customer communication, Adepegba and his team developed new automated systems using Microsoft Power Automate to streamline travel and shipment processes. The new tools allow members to book household goods briefings online, automatically closing time slots once they’re full, thus saving customers time and enabling logistics Airmen to better focus on their mission-critical tasks.
“What stands out about him is how fast he steps up,” said Master Sgt. John Campos Y Campos, 51st LRS household goods and passenger travel section chief. “Even as a new Airman, he’s always asking, ‘How can I help?’ and then he actually makes things happen. That mindset makes a big difference for the shop and for the mission.”
The team also introduced a new virtual question portal that directs customer inquiries straight to the passenger travel organizational inbox. The system improves accuracy and reduces the need for walk-ins or extended phone calls, helping members get the information they need quickly while keeping operations moving efficiently behind the scenes.
“If there’s a process people repeat every day, it can probably be automated,” Adepegba said. “It’s about freeing up time, cutting out extra steps, and keeping the focus on readiness.”
Building on these successes, the 51st LRS continues to develop additional digital tools that will enhance information-sharing and automate key travel workflows across the base. Adepegba has also been selected for Project Arc, an Air Force program that places scientists, engineers and innovators directly with operational units to solve real-world problems alongside warfighters. Through this opportunity, he will continue advancing automation and efficiency initiatives on a broader scale, applying his skills in process engineering to develop practical solutions that strengthen readiness and mission success.
By building smarter systems, the 51st LRS is helping service members stay focused on generating combat airpower and keeping Team Osan ready to “Fight Tonight.”
