    Annual Exercise Cyber Dawg 2025

Cyber Dawg 25, an annual exercise hosted by the Georgia National Guard, Georgia Technology Authority, and the Georgia Cyber Innovation and Training Center, brought together National Guard cyber units, active-duty and reserve service members, and representatives from Georgia’s state partnership countries, Argentina and Georgia.

The joint live-action cyber security exercise was conducted Sept. 20-27, 2025, at the Georgia Cyber Center in Augusta, Ga., where scenarios for cyber protections and defense are demonstrated through large scale training exercises.

“Cyber Dawg focuses on realism, relationships, and readiness,” said Lt. Col. Mike Mallon, senior cyber security advisor for the Ga. National Guard. “Through the simulation of recent and relevant cyber threats, state and local agency participants experience what a real attack looks and feels like.”

Mallon also stated that experts from the National Guard, active duty military, and non-military organizations provide support along the way, as they would in a real world cyber attack.

The exercise originated in 2019 and has continued to seek the enhancement of a whole-of-state approach to cyber awareness, readiness and coordination. It has more than doubled in the last four years. This year they hosted 129 exercise participants.

While Argentina’s participation was limited the last few years, they were invited to participate and to share lessons learned and best practices during this year’s iteration.
Since the establishment of the partnership with the country of Georgia in 1994 and Argentina in 2016, the Georgia National Guard continues to foster a coalition of growth and shared partnership. This includes both state partners training and participating in the exercise simultaneously with their Georgia Guard counterparts.

“The scenario is meant to stress the participants to foster growth,” said Mallon. The end result is not only that the participants improve their cyber skills, but they also build relationships with other participants and with the supporting military and private sector supporting personnel.”
