U.S. Marine Corps Forces, Central Command (MARCENT) announced the establishment of Task Force 89 (TF-89), an innovation and experimentation unit chartered to rapidly assess, validate and field solutions that address theater and service priorities across all warfighting domains.
TF-89 will serve as MARCENT’s focal point for capability development, experimentation, and rapid integration. The task force will identify capability gaps, test potential solutions, and coordinate operational assessments in streamlined cycles designed to shorten the time between problem identification and capability employment.
Bringing together personnel from across component and service staffs, TF-89 will also partner with service experimentation organizations and provide a collaborative forum to share information on innovation efforts. The task force’s work will remain aligned with CENTCOM’s campaign priorities and the guidance of the MARCENT commander.
“TF-89 gives us a deliberate, repeatable path to take promising concepts from idea to demonstration and into the hands of warfighters more quickly,” said Maj. Stephen Maraist, TF-89 Integration Branch Chief. “That agility matters when adversary technologies are evolving rapidly and when commanders need options sooner rather than later.”
