MANAMA, Bahrain - Intelligence Specialist Seaman Angel Lee Jones was selected as the U.S. Naval Forces Central Command's (NAVCENT)/5th Fleet (C5F) Bluejacket of the Quarter, for the 2nd quarter of 2010.

Jones is an intelligence analyst for the NAVCENT Intelligence Department. She reviews official communications within NAVCENT and provides a common operational picture to U.S. and coalition forces within the 5th Fleet area of responsibility (AOR). Jones is also responsible for the dissemination of intelligence products that are used by national-level decision makers.

Jones commented on her selection as BJOQ and how that motivates her.

"I'm extremely honored of course, being part of such a large command. I also feel that being selected inspires junior Sailors in the command to know that even they can get recognized for doing a good job and acknowledged for doing the right things," Jones said.

During her off-duty time, Jones enjoys volunteering her time at the Regional Institute for Active Learning School in Adliya, and at the Bahrain Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.

Jones has been in the Navy for one year and plans to pursue a degree in International Relations. Jones said she tries to achieve her goals by having a positive attitude about things.

"It's your own will power that will get you through anything and get you where you ultimately want to be," said Jones.

Jones reported to NAVCENT in mid-April 2010 and is scheduled to transfer in April 2012.

The NAVCENT and C5F AOR, encompass approximately 2.5 million square miles of area including the Persian Gulf, Red Sea, Gulf of Oman, parts of the Indian Ocean and 27 countries. Fifth Fleet's priority mission is to conduct persistent maritime operations to deter and counter disruptive countries, defeat violent extremism and strengthen partner nations' maritime capabilities in order to promote a secure maritime environment in the U.S. Central Command AOR.
