ANNISTON ARMY DEPOT, Ala -- Anniston Army Depot (ANAD) commander, Col. Andy Moore, held a town hall meeting Sept. 24, 2025, his first since taking command of the depot. It was an opportunity for Moore to share his leadership philosophy and serve as an open forum for depot personnel to ask questions, fostering transparency and two-way communication with leadership.
In outlining his priorities, the Mississippi native said his top priority is people. “I’m a firm believer that if we take care of our people, the people are going to take care of the mission,” said Moore. That mission included an FY25 workload of 2.4 million direct labor hours supporting the warfighter by delivering advanced remanufacturing, reclamation, and global sustainment maintenance capabilities to ensure global readiness.
Moore, who’d spent a majority of his career in tactical and operational units, said during his first months as ANAD’s commander, he’d learned a lot by asking questions. “I’ve been really, really impressed with the subject matter expertise that’s here and the dedication, the pride that you take in doing the work. It’s just humbling.”
He pointed out that a quarter of the depot’s workforce is made up of veterans from different services, each with its own core values, but each echoing the same foundational principles.
“Let’s talk a little bit about values. The Army values of loyalty, duty, respect, selfless service, honor, integrity, personal courage--those shouldn’t just be words that are up on a poster board. They’re what when the hard times come—and the hard times will come---that’s what keeps us straight,” Moore said.
Taking care of the workforce, Moore explained, includes having the right kind of leader. “You deserve leadership at all levels that can provide you with the purpose and motivation for what you do,” he said.
“If asked what you do here at the depot, I personally believe we should all have pretty much the same answer: We provide the best combat systems to our nation’s warfighters, regardless if they’re Soldiers, Marines, Sailors, Airmen, or Guardians, to allow them to go out and destroy our nation’s enemies. And they should be able to do that without having to worry about their equipment failing them.”
