Capt. Mary Kretzer, director of operations for both the 419th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron and the 4th Fighter Generation Squadron, earned the 2025 Air Force Reserve Command Gen. Lew Allen Jr. Trophy for her exceptional leadership, innovation and impact on aircraft maintenance operations.
Kretzer oversees more than 400 Total Force Integration Airmen and manages 26 F-35A Lightning II fighter jets. She credits her team for the achievement, emphasizing that the award reflects their collective effort.
“It showcases a lot of what my teams have done,” Kretzer said. “I’m not the one making the mission happen – it’s the Airmen who spend long hours on the flight line every day. They’re the ones driving our success.”
Among her accomplishments, Kretzer led the Air Force’s first unit driven F-35A rebuild initiative, collaborating with Air Combat Command, the F-35 Joint Program Office and multiple sustainment teams. Her team restored a fully mission-capable aircraft by combining components from two previously damaged F-35s, saving the program $63 million.
“It makes me proud to be part of both teams,” she said. “The amount of work and positive outcomes we’ve achieved this year blows me away. They deserve this recognition as much as I do.”
The Air Force Reserve Command Gen. Lew Allen Jr. Trophy, named for the Air Force’s 10th Chief of Staff, honors Airmen who demonstrate outstanding performance in aircraft, munitions or missile maintenance.
